Summer Sewing for kids

This is a 4 x Day Course for 8yrs-12yrs

In our gorgeous light filled & spacious studio in the heart of Dun Laoghaire.

During this camp kids will be introduced to sewing first by hand stitching followed by introduction to the sewing machine (depending on age and individual ability) learning while working on fun and useful projects. 

This workshop is always a huge hit for this age group, they love to make a ‘creature’ cut, sew, stuff, stitch and create a little face with mouth and button eyes! A zipper pouch and tote bag are among the items we aim to make over the few days. Sewing builds children’s fine motor skills, concentration and focus. It also builds on their self esteem when they see what they’ve made with the own little hands!

About your tutor, Nikki

I  grew up with a Mum who ran her own successful Designer Children's wear  clothing company. As a child I was surrounded by fabrics, cutting tables, sewing machines & giant rolls of pattern paper! Later as a student, and a graduate I worked in all areas of the business, from design, pattern cutting, manufacturing, distribution and Sales & Marketing.

I later went to live and work in Hong Kong, the hub of fashion manufacturing, for a company who's client's included top fashion designers and retailers; Monsoon, Accessorize, Ralph Lauren, DKNY to name a few.

Returning then to work in Dublin as a bespoke Wedding dress designer. This evolved into a successful retail business with two stores in Dublin, which I ran for more than 12 years. Becoming busy mum of three girls led me to take a step back from this business for a few years.

But I am again, in the lucky position of working from a fabulous large studio in the heart of Dun Laoghaaire doing what I love. I now enjoy passing on the necessary skills to children, teenagers and adults who are keen to explore their creative side and learn the practical skills to make it all happen!
