2 x day workshop
1.30pm-5.30pm (Sundays)
You can complete your 2 x day course over two Sunday afternoons. Some hand stitching may be required at home between Sundays to ensure project completion.

Frame
A Parachute or Scalloped Empire 25/30cm wireframe lampshade.
Fabric
I offer a Hand loomed Vietnamese dupion silk in a large selection of stunning colours
Lining in a complimentary colour to your chosen silk.
Trimmings
There is a selection of quality braiding in a wide selection of colours that can both compliment or contrast your chosen silk.
Together with the braiding are a selection of finest quality fringing sourced from London. Various lengths are available 15cm & 20cm.

These kind of lampshades are difficult if not impossible to find in the shops. Solution? Make your own. Come to my workshop and learn how to make a Traditional soft shade by hand. There will be a lot of precision involved. Strut binding, measuring, cutting, fabric stretching, pinning, streetly stitching, glueing. Find out what all this means and learn how to do it yourself over my 2 x day workshop.
This workshop is suitable for everyone… whether you’re an accomplished creative, maker & sewer or literally have never picked up a sewing needle in your life. If you’re keen to learn how, this is for you!
But, there are no shortcuts here, lampshade making like this takes time, patience, endurance…but oh the joy once complete, to see your beautiful work illuminated. Forever to admire!
I have a background in fashion design and so have a love of all things textile, texture, colour & fabric and what better way to show off stunning fabric than to illuminate it on a beautiful shade. My love of fabrics and lamps led me to train in London at a specialist traditional lampshade making school. It brings me such joy to create lampshades though extremely time consuming it is an art to be treasured and passed on to all those share a passion for colour, textiles, making & of course lamps!
